Ashlyn Darter

Ashlyn graduated from the University of Oklahoma with a degree in Economics. Certified as a Youth Well-Being Coach by the Youth Coaching Institute, she advocates for women's safety and empowerment worldwide. With two younger sisters, Ashlyn co-founded Operation Halo after witnessing firsthand the vulnerabilities young women face.
While in college, Ashlyn experienced cyberstalking and harassment while living in a sorority house. This scary experience taught Ashlyn how vulnerable young women can be, especially with social media. She feels very lucky that she had her dad—a retired OKC police officer—to help her “safety strategize” and communicate with law enforcement. Shortly after, she watched her mother fall into an abusive relationship—a traumatic experience that forever changed both of their lives. Ashlyn did everything she could to prevent more domestic violence from occurring, including fighting for legal guardianship of her mom. Sadly, she eventually had to cut ties with her mom to protect her own mental well-being. She still believes a day will come when her mother has the courage to leave her abuser and pursue a healthy relationship with her daughters.
These experiences underscored the need for proactive education on personal safety, healthy relationships, and wellness before crises arise. Teaming up with her father, Ashlyn built Operation Halo to deliver a unique safety curriculum to girls 13+, fostering skills in situational awareness and threat prevention.
Having traveled to 17 countries to study and volunteer on women's issues, Ashlyn believes even the darkest moments can spark positive change. Her mission? Create safe spaces for girls to learn, discuss, and thrive, ensuring they navigate life confidently and supported.
